I’ve mentioned on the blog a few times that I have an almost-two-year-old. His name is Grayson, and he’ll turn 2 in just a couple of days. Unfortunately we are also moving in a couple of days. I thought this would be a great time to get him set up with a subscription box that is all his own. I chose Bluum because I had read good reviews, and I thought Grayson would really enjoy the types of things Bluum sends. Hopefully the excitement of this box will help ease the transition.
For a little background, Bluum is a subscription box company tailored to kids, and they send curated boxes from pregnancy through age 5. Since they send a little bit of everything, they are a really great way to discover new products for your child. They match products to your child’s age and developmental stage. In order to tell your child’s developmental stage, you can check off milestones that he or she has reached, such as looking for hidden objects, or dancing to music.
Bluum has a few different bundling opportunities. The more months you buy at a time, the more money you will save. I opted to go for the monthly plan, so I wasn’t committing to something I hadn’t tried yet. In the future I will definitely choose one of the other options though. I’m always a fan of saving money.
Next you have the option of being surprised by the products they select for you, or choosing for yourself. Normally I like to be surprised. I think that’s why I’m so into subscription boxes in the first place. But this time I decided to choose my items because I wanted to see what types of products they offered.
According to their little figure here, I had four slots to fill. In the picture below you can see the categories. Unfortunately there were no items available in the Diapering & Potty, Gear Accessories, or Home Life Essentials sections in Grayson’s age range, so I can’t show you what types of products they provide.
The first thing I went for is the Books section. I think reading is so important, and in my opinion all subscription boxes for kids should include a book. I chose the book titled I Love My Dad because I thought it looked really cute.
Next I went on to the toys. I knew Grayson would really like the toy car… but it looked a little young for him, and he has SO MANY cars as it is. Seriously. I had no idea how many there were until we started packing them. So instead I chose the Tegu toy and the robot puzzle. I actually heard about the Tegu set from my cousin, who has two young children. It sounds essentially like a 3D puzzle combined with blocks. The robot puzzle looked cute, and he doesn’t have too many puzzles yet. Hopefully they’ll be fun and help him work on his problem-solving skills.
I skipped over the Hygiene & Wellness section. The products looked like things I would like to try, but I would rather fill the box with items my son will use himself, like books and toys. Although that elephant tooth brush does look awful cute.
For the last item I was hoping to include some cute clothing, but again there was nothing in Grayson’s age range. So instead I chose a neat-sounding snack cup.
Once you make all of your selections, they show you a summary of the items you picked. These descriptions are also available while you’re selecting the products, but it’s nice to see them all together at the end too. They also have a countdown on their website so you know exactly when your box will ship.
After selecting products for your box, you can also add on addition items, like the ones below, at no additional shipping costs. Oh by the way, everything ships for free!
Bluum also has a rewards system, with lots of ways to earn points like referring friends, connecting your account to Facebook, and reviewing products. Once you earn 500 points you get a free month!
I’m so excited for Grayson to get his box. I think he’ll love it! Be sure to follow my blog so you’ll be notified when I write a reveal post of this box, complete with cute baby pictures!
What products would you have picked? Have you tried Bluum? Do you like to pick your own products or be surprised?
