Oops. So I was supposed to cancel Kyle’s subscription for Five Four Club last month, but it turns out if you don’t cancel by the 10th of the month you get a new shipment anyway. On the plus side, now I get to make him model clothes again! To see what Kyle got in May, click here. Let’s see what he got for June!
Daytona Heather Off White Henley
- Size: Large
- Color: Heather Off White
My Opinion: This shirt is fine except that it’s almost identical, but not as nice looking as one he received two months ago (the other one has dark buttons and no logo). I can see sending a similar shirt after a year or so when the first one might be worn out, but I would think they would keep track of what they’ve already sent you so you don’t get repeats. Especially since you can’t return items and you can only exchange for a different size.
Kyle’s Opinion: What am I supposed to say about an off-white shirt? It’s the same as another one that I have. It’s fine.
Axle Heather Olive T-Shirt
- Size: Large
- Color: Heather Olive
My Opinion: What the hell? We thought the pocket was just some decorative stitching, until we noticed the hidden zipper in his armpit. The pocket goes all the way from one seam to the other. What would you even use that for? I guess if you’re traveling people are less likely to grope your chest to pick-pocket you, but the fabric’s so thin you would have an unsightly lump there. When I went to Five Four Club’s site to read their description, the item had disappeared from their website. So the mystery remains unsolved.
Kyle’s Opinion: <Shrug> No strong opinions. The pocket’s just weird, I don’t know how you’d use it.
Hyannis Navy Modern Board Shorts
- Size: 36
- Color: Navy
My Opinion: They’re not navy, more of a bright blue. The shorts are cute, seem like a good quality, and fit him pretty well.
Kyle’s Opinion: They’re fine. The tag is itchy. The zipper pocket in the back is nice because I can put keys there and they won’t fall out, unlike with those stupid little flap pockets.
Coney Navy No-Show Socks
- Size: OS
- Color: Navy
My Opinion: I’m impressed that these socks fit Kyle’s feet. I think the right/left labels are cute, and I like the colors. He tends to be pretty hard on socks though, and these are pretty thin so I don’t think they’ll last very long.
Kyle’s Opinion: I don’t understand the point of no-show socks. Also I don’t like clothes telling me how to live my life (referring to the right/left labels).
This is definitely going to be Kyle’s last box at Five Four Club. I already cancelled his subscription, so no more accidental boxes. We’re pretty happy with the quality of clothing that Five Four Club sends, but the service is lacking for me in terms of personalization. This month we tried setting his color preference to “rich and vibrant” and he only got one vibrant piece. He also got a shirt almost identical to one he received two months ago. Kyle wants to take a break from receiving clothing, but when we feel like he needs more we’re going to try a different service. Anyone have any suggestions?
