I just got another Trendsend box, and I’m really excited to show you what’s inside. I think this is my favorite box from them yet! To read about Trendsend and see what I received and kept last month, click here.

I decided to get another box from Trendsend because they just decided to drop the style fee from $20 to $1. This means that if I don’t like anything they send me, I can send the entire box back without losing a significant styling fee. I’m a huge fan of risk-free boxes for obvious reasons.

This month I asked to try another chambray dress, an olive jacket, and a pair of distressed jeans. Let’s see what my stylist Christina sent me.

Outfit 1:

City Mix Tee

Shop Evereve//similar//similar

Initial Impressions: This looks like a cute, basic black tee. I like that it has a little chest pocket and a strip of sheer material at the bottom.

The Details:

  • Brand: Sanctuary
  • Cost: $44
  • Color: Black
  • Size: M
  • Material: Shell: 100% linen; Contrast: 100% polyester
  • Washing Instructions: Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry

The Looks:

For the first outfit I paired the shirt with a pair of white crochet shorts from Loft, because I thought the color contrast and the style juxtaposition of these two pieces would be cool. I also added a pendant necklace and sandals. For the second outfit I tucked it into a Jella C floral skirt from Golden Tote and these TOMS from my first Trunk Club review. For the third look I put on some Loft jeans, a cardigan from Stitch Fix, a necklace from Wantable (this review), and my poppy Tieks.

The Verdict: Return. It’s a cute tee, but I don’t wear black that much, and the details are hard to see because of the color. This tee does come in a few different colors: Liberty Red, Marine, White, and Poppy. I would probably request this tee in a different color if I wasn’t already planning on keeping other items…

Drape Vest

Shop Evereve//similar for $20

Initial Impressions: Christina said they didn’t have a jacket that fit what I was looking for or my price point, so the sent this instead. I hadn’t even thought about a vest! I think this could actually be better because I don’t have a layer like this in my closet. I could even layer it over long-sleeves in the fall for a little more warmth. I like this brand too, I have a quilted faux-leather vest by them that I kept from Stitch Fix last fall.

The Details:

  • Brand: Fate
  • Cost: $78
  • Color: Olive
  • Size: Medium
  • Material: 100% tencel
  • Washing Instructions: Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry

The Looks:

For the first outfit I wore the vest over a Papermoon tank I kept from Stitch Fix (this review), my jeans from Loft, and my TOMS. For the second look I wanted to dress the vest up a little bit, so I put on a denim pencil skirt from Golden Tote, my new striped top from Elizabeth&Clarke, a gold statement necklace from Stitch Fix, and my black Tieks. For the final look I layered the vest over a swing dress from Loft and sandals.

The Verdict: Keep. Initially I had mixed feelings about this vest because my husband said it “looks like Han Solo in the back and a sweat lodge in the front.” My sister, however, assured me that it was cute. I think it’s a cute staple that will work with a lot of pieces in my closet.

Raw Hem Cuffed Crop

Shop Evereve//similar same brand//similar same brand

Initial Impressions: Ask and you shall receive! Although these look like they’re boyfriend cut which isn’t really my jam.

The Details:

  • Brand: Kut From The Kloth
  • Cost: $89
  • Color: Responsible (odd name for a denim wash…)
  • Size: 8 (I regularly wear this size, but Evereve recommends sizing down)
  • Material: 99% cotton, 1% spandex
  • Washing Instructions: Machine wash

The Looks:

For the first look I put on a Loft tank with cute crochet detail and my poppy Tieks. For the second outfit I wanted to replicate the simple, chic look of a white T-shirt and jeans, so I chose my white tee from Elizabeth&Clarke, and added a necklace and my TOMS. For the final look I wanted to see if I could dress the jeans up a little, so I wore a Gilli tank and a blazer from Golden Tote and my black Tieks.

The Verdict: Return. These just feel too big (which isn’t really a surprise since it seems like I should have received a smaller size). I also think the high cuff makes my legs look shorter. I would like to have a pair of distressed jeans, but these aren’t them.

Outfit 2:

Pullover Denim Dress

Shop Evereve

Initial Impressions: Yay another chambray dress! I was hoping for something more “fit-n-flare” cut but my stylist also included a belt so I could create that shape. She adds that because of the sleeves, this dress would be great for all seasons, which is something I’ve been looking for.

The Details:

  • Brand: Allison Joy
  • Cost: $68 $49.99 – – Now on sale for $34.99!
  • Color: Medium Blue
  • Size: Medium
  • Material: 100% Lyocel
  • Washing Instructions: Machine wash cold, gentle. Tumble dry low

The Looks:

To test the versatility of this dress, I decided to style it for different seasons. First up is Spring. I unrolled the sleeves and added a coral striped cardigan from Golden Tote over the top, and added a white statement necklace and my TOMS. For Summer I belted it to create an hourglass shape, added a pendant necklace from Wantable, and sandals. For Fall I added a cardigan from Golden Tote, swapped out the necklace for a scarf from Stitch Fix, and wore booties. I could also have added leggings for extra warmth. For winter, I can see adding leggings or even skinny corduroy pants (those are on my wish list) and wearing a v-neck sweater over the top.

The Verdict: Keep! This is certainly the best chambray dress I have received during my search, and I think it will be a really versatile staple in my closet.

Shop Evereve//same belt on Amazon//faux leather same brand//similar

Initial Impressions: I’m glad this belt came fastened or else I never would have figured out how it worked! I was reading reviews on Amazon, and it seems like I’m not the only one with this issue. It’s really cute, and looks great with the dress.

The Details:

  • Brand: Elisa M
  • Cost: $38
  • Color: Cognac
  • Size: S/M
  • Material: Leather

The Verdict: Return. I’m kind of regretting it though. I didn’t really want to pay that much for this belt (especially since I purchased two items in this box), so now I’m on the lookout for a cognac skinny belt that doesn’t cost $38… Or I may request this next month, ha!

Outfit 3:

Cross Front Tank

If this top sounds/looks familiar… it is. This is the exact same top sent to me last month. Same color and everything. In case you’re wondering, it doesn’t fit any better this time around.

Sasha Wide Leg Pant

Shop Evereve//similar//similar

Initial Impressions: Another pair of Palazzo pants. Last month I received some with an Elephant print, but sent them back because I couldn’t really find a way to wear them without looking like I was wearing pajamas. Some people manage to pull them off, I think I just don’t have the right pieces in my closet. Also they are super long, so I’ll have to wear heels with them. However, they are super silky and would be super comfortable to wear, and they have pockets!

The Details:

  • Brand: Allison Joy
  • Cost: $68
  • Color: Navy Print
  • Size: Medium
  • Material: 100% rayon
  • Washing Instructions: Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry

The Looks:

Even though the white tank that they sent (again) doesn’t work for me, I do like the look of these pants with a white top, and now I actually have one from Elizabeth&Clarke (the Liz Lemon from this review). For the second look I chose a mint top from Golden Tote to add a little color and I thought a top with more structure would make the pants look a little less like pajamas. For the third look I wore The Ash from Elizabeth&Clarke and a chambray shirt from J. Crew Mercantile. I wore the same yellow earrings and my TOMS for all three outfits.

The Verdict: Return. These are just too long, and once again I struggled to find things to wear with them. I love the idea of Palazzo pants… maybe I need a different color/pattern in order for them to work for me.

This was actually kind of a mixed box for me. I kept two items that I love and will be super versatile and I sent back two items that were my style but I didn’t want to spend more money. However I also had two pairs of pants not fit me correctly, I received the same shirt that I got last month, and I didn’t mention this earlier but there was a necklace that appeared to have stowed away in my box because it wasn’t in my stylist’s letter or on the online feedback form (I sent it back because I would have felt guilty keeping it!) I really love the idea of Trendsend, I think it’s just going to take a couple more boxes to work out the kinks, although, now that the styling fee is only $1, I’m totally willing to get those boxes!
